Instagram has unveiled a suite of new interactive stickers for Stories and Reels, aiming to provide users with more creative ways to share content and engage with their followers. The most notable addition is the “Reveal” sticker, which blurs the contents of a story post, requiring viewers to send a direct message (DM) to the poster to uncover the hidden content.
Reveal Sticker
The Reveal sticker encourages more interaction between users and their followers. Users simply tap the stickers icon when creating a Story, select the “Reveal” option, and type out a hint about the blurred content to use the feature. Once the Story is posted, followers can only view the hidden content by sending a DM to the poster. This feature is expected to be particularly useful for creators looking to boost engagement with their stories.
Cutouts
The “Cutouts” feature allows users to turn parts of videos or photos from their camera roll into custom stickers that can be added to Stories or Reels. Like Apple’s image cutout tool, this feature enables users to easily “pick up” an object from a photo or video with just a tap of their finger.
Add Yours Music and Frames
Instagram has also introduced the “Add Yours Music” sticker, which allows users to share songs that fit their current mood and prompts their followers to do the same. This feature builds on the existing “Add Yours” sticker, which encourages users to respond to Stories with their content based on a specific prompt or topic.
Another new addition is the “Frames” feature, which turns photos into virtual Polaroids that can be viewed by shaking the phone or clicking the “Shake to reveal” button. This nostalgic feature is designed for sharing throwback posts and automatically adds the date and timestamp of when the photo was taken.
