NEW DELHI: An Indian-origin man in Canada landed in trouble over a video which showed him availing free food from Canadian food banks designated for students. As the video went viral, some social media users slammed Mehul Prajpati for availing free food despite having a high-paying job.
One of the social media users tagged the video and claimed that Prajapati in question worked with a reputed firm in Canada, TD Bank, where the average annual salary was 98,000 dollars.The same user later, in another post, claimed that Prajapati had been fired from his job by the firm over the video.
However, Prajapati’s family members denied these reports and claimed that he was a student without any job. He had only interned with the firm and his internship had ended in December last year, they said.
The social media post which showed the response of the firm read: “Thank you for bringing the video to our attention. The alleged action and the messages captured in the video do not align with TD values or culture of care. I can confirm that the individual named in the video no longer works at TD.”
The post did not mention that the man was fired over the video.
