A suspected robber chased by Ontario Police crashed his truck into another vehicle and killed three members of an Indian family in Canada on April 29. Now, it has emerged that the 21-year-old burglary suspect was also of Indian-origin.
The collision of vehicles on a highway in Canada led to the death of a couple from Tamil Nadu, who were there on a family visit, and their three-month-old grandson.

The crash killed Manivannan Srinivasapillai, 60, Mahalakshmi Ananthakrishnan, 55, from Chennai and their three-month-old grandson, Aditya Vivaan. The boy’s parents – Gokulnath Manivannan and Ashwitha Jawahar — survived the crash.
The U-Haul truck chased by the police was being driven by Gagandeep Singh, The Toronto Star newspaper reported. Singh, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was another Indian-origin person with Gagandeep Singh in the truck.
The passenger in the van, Manpreet Gill, 38, remains in hospital and has not been charged in relation to the crash, according to the lawyer who represented him when he faced previous charges.
The Hamilton justice of the peace signed an order for Singh’s previous charges, stating he had to stay with a person who promised $2,000 to get him out of jail. He was also told not to go to the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) or Home Depots in the province. He had been scheduled to appear in court again on May 14.
Some people, including Pierre Poilievre, leader of the Conservative party, think a better bail system could have stopped the deaths. But others say Singh’s releases seemed fair based on what was known then.
Toronto lawyer Daniel Brown said Singh got bail for small crimes before the crash, even though it was tragic.
On Wednesday, a funeral was held for the baby boy.
Manivannan, the dad, said in a statement that he and his wife are sad they can’t hold their son Aditya Vivaan again. Aditya’s toys are still in the house. The dad’s parents came from India two days before the crash to see their grandson.
The dad’s parents were cremated on Monday.
Aditya’s funeral was at the Chapel Ridge Funeral Home in Markham.
In his eulogy, Aditya was called a “beautiful soul” who left too soon. He was born on January 24 and brought a lot of happiness.
The SIU is looking into the crash after the van driver, a 21-year-old man, died and a 38-year-old man in the passenger seat got seriously hurt.
