Premier Doug Ford’s cabinet secrets are safe for now after the Supreme Court of Canada ruled his ministers’ mandate letters do not have to be made public.

“The mandate letters are protected from disclosure … The letters are revealing of the substance of cabinet deliberations,” the high court ruled Friday in a unanimous 7-0 decision, warning of the risks of prematurely “publicizing cabinet’s decision-making process.”
