Nakba anniversary: Iran says Israel symbol of organized terrorism across the world – Press TV

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has issued a statement on the anniversary of Nakba Day, describing Israel as an embodiment of “organized terrorism” that is engaged in war crimes and genocide against the Palestinian nation in violation of international law.

“The fake Zionist regime, which is a clear symbol of organized terrorism in the world, is adding a new page to its record of inhumane international crimes. The discovery of mass graves in Nasser and al-Shifa hospitals in the Gaza Strip displays a horrible image of the brutal regime’s crimes against humanity,” the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

The statement was issued on the 76th anniversary of the illegal creation of the Israeli regime, known as Nakba Day (the Day of Catastrophe), on May 15, 1948.

More than 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly removed from their homeland and 500 villages and towns were destroyed by Zionist militias before the occupying regime declared its existence.

The ministry said Nakba Day was the start of a bloody era of genocide, massacre and displacement of Palestinians, as well as the occupation and desecration of their holy land with the green light and support from US-led colonial powers.

“The perpetration of international crimes, including war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity, run against the fundamental values of the United Nations and all internationally recognized norms, principles and regulations,” it said, noting that Zionist criminals are therefore responsible for their atrocities and that their continued impunity is in breach of international law.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry also vehemently condemned the killing of over 35,000 innocent Palestinians, including women and children, in Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza strip over the past seven months.

The massacre, it added, has been committed with the US’s all-out political, military, intelligence and economic support for the Tel Aviv regime and condemned Washington’s acts of sabotage aimed at preventing an end to the Gaza onslaught.

“Now that the true image of the apartheid Israeli regime has been exposed… and the world’s conscience… has awakened to the true nature of this evil entity …, we hope that the real Holocaust against the oppressed, resilient, free and brave Palestinian nation will end with a celebration of the historical land’s liberation,” it concluded.

On Friday, the United Nations General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to grant new “rights and privileges” to Palestine and called on the Security Council to favorably reconsider its request to become the 194th UN member.

While the resolution gave Palestine some new rights and privileges, it reaffirmed that Palestine remains a non-member observer state without full UN membership and the right to vote in the General Assembly or at any of its conferences.

In its statement, the Foreign Ministry said that Iran believes Palestine’s full UN membership would mark “the first step and a turning point in addressing the historical injustice that the Palestinian people have endured.”

It also reiterated its solidarity with the Palestinian cause and emphasized that Palestine is the prime issue of the Muslim world.
