Many users rely on sending reels via Instagram or Facebook to maintain connections with friends and family. These platforms offer a vast array of content, ranging from comedic monologues to relatable posts and to make it even better, recent reports suggest that Instagram may introduce a new feature called “Blend”. Meta-owned Instagram is looking to introduce this new feature, aimed at enhancing how users engage with its popular Reels.

This new feature could potentially streamline the process of discovering reels tailored to users’ preferences and those of their social circles, potentially revolutionising the platform’s interaction dynamics.

“Instagram is developing Blend: #Reels recommendations influenced by the reels you’ve exchanged and your shared interests. This will be a private feature exclusive to both parties. You can exit a Blend at any time,” Paluzzi stated in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Just like Spotify’s Blend feature, which enables users to craft collaborative playlists, Instagram’s Blend is anticipated to merge the Reels preferences of two individuals into a single, personalised vertical video stream. This innovation allows users to seamlessly enjoy a mix of their preferred short-form videos alongside those curated by their friends.

Although the feature’s specifics are not yet fully disclosed, screenshots indicate that Blend feeds will be completely private and adjustable, enabling users to exit or switch between blends at their discretion. It remains unconfirmed whether these feeds will consistently update with fresh recommendations or refresh according to a predetermined schedule.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently revealed that the app is launching its trending section in the United States. This feature is similar to what we see on Elon Musk-owned micro-blogging platform X.

The announcement follows five weeks after the CEO’s statement that the app was experimenting with showcasing the top topics on Threads. Zuckerberg emphasised that the team is dedicated to fine-tuning the feature before expanding its availability to additional countries and languages.
