Olivia Culpo and Christian McCaffrey’s wedding dazzles Rhode Island

Rhode Island native Olivia Culpo and San Francisco 49ers’ running back Christian McCaffrey tied the knot at the Ocean House Saturday in Westerly.

The ceremony was held at Watch Hill Chapel and transitioned to the hotel greens for the reception.

Lookie-loos lined the streets to get a glimpse of celebrities.

Elephants take over Newport to promote wildlife

The Great Elephant Migration exhibit was officially unveiled at Rough Point Monday morning.

The elephants are as tall as 8.5 feet and weigh up to 700 pounds.

The sculptures were crafted out of an invasive East Indian weed called Lantana camara by the Coexistence Collective, a group of 200 indigenous artists in India.

The herd will be on display throughout July and August along the Cliff Walk to raise money for Save the Bay and the nonprofit Elephant Family.

Judge declares mistrial in Karen Read murder case

A judge declared a mistrial Monday after jurors deadlocked in the case of Karen Read, the Mansfield woman accused of killing her Boston police officer boyfriend John O’Keefe by striking him with her SUV and leaving him in a snowstorm.

Prosecutors said in a statement that they intend to retry the case.

The judge scheduled a status conference for July 22.

Rhode Island DMV issues notices for tinted windows at its parking lot

Some Rhode Island drivers received notices at the Division of Motor Vehicles in Cranston for having tinted windows on their cars.

The state prohibits tinted windows on the driver’s side of a vehicle.

The DMV said the notices instruct owners to correct the violation within five days.

South Coast Rail nears completion

The South Coast Rail is nearly done rebuilding the tracks from Boston to Bristol County.

The rail will connect areas like Fall River, Taunton, and New Bedford to Boston for the first time since the 1950s.

Train service is scheduled to start in May 2025.
