In addition to this, the speed indicator also indicates the overspeed when the vehicle is running at a relatively higher speed than the set limit which can result in an over speeding ticket.

Get speed limit alerts
For an extra layer of caution, Google Maps offers speed limit alerts. If this feature is available in your location, the speedometer will notify you if you’re exceeding the speed limit. The speed indicator will change colours, giving you a visual cue to adjust your speed.
Enable Speedometer in Google Maps
Open Google Maps: Begin by unlocking your Android device and launching the Google Maps app. Locate the app icon on your home screen or app drawer and tap to open.
Access your account settings: In the Google Maps app, identify your profile picture or initial, usually situated in the top right corner of the screen. Tap on your profile picture or initial to access a dropdown menu.
Navigate to navigation settings: Within the dropdown menu, you’ll find the “Settings” option. Tap on “Settings” to reveal additional customisation options. From there, choose “Navigation settings” to proceed to the next step.
Locate “Driving Options”: Once you’re in the navigation settings, look for the section labeled “Driving options.” This section contains various features and preferences related to your driving experience on Google Maps.
Toggle the speedometer on or off: Under the “Driving options” section, you’ll find the toggle switch for the speedometer. To enable the speedometer and have real-time information on your driving speed, turn the switch to the “On” position.
