Vasco: The parents of the 6-year-old Vasco girl who recently succumbed to dengue, submitted a memorandum to the Vasco police and to the GMC dean on Friday seeking that an FIR be registered against the medical officer and staff of the Chicalim sub-district hospital for negligence, due to which, they alleged, their daughter lost her life.
While the girl died after she was tested positive for dengue, the cause of her death is yet to be determined.
Vijay Khanapur, the girl’s father, stated in the memorandum that the medical officer and other staff who were on duty at the Chicalim sub-district hospital on the intervening night of November 13 and 14 had failed to give attention to his daughter Vani who was admitted there.
“Despite her deteriorating health since the night of November 13, they failed to offer her the necessary treatment, and requests to transfer her to the GMC were ignored…My daughter would have been alive today had she been shifted to the GMC immediately after she tested positive for dengue,” Khanapur said.
